Juke Town is the first game based on Chicago’s unparalleled footwork culture. The game enables its members to interact through social networking, music, parties, and footwork dance battles, simulating a real life community. The game unifies footworkers, producers, DJ’s, and fans through an online multiplayer experience in an immersive 3D world.

Juke Town is a third person, online multiplayer game where characters can footwork, socialize, and complete missions. In Juke Town, your character will host events and participate in footwork battles. Players can chat and battle friends or rivals online. You’ll connect with players to gain popularity and perform tasks to earn Juke Bucks, the currency of Juke Town, which can be used to purchase merchandise, place bets on footwork battles, and much more.

INFLUENCE

Juke Town was inspired by Footwurk The Legacy, a short film by Akeem Pennicooke that explores footwork’s impact on Chicago’s impoverished communities. As a game-designer and lover of footwork culture, Pennicooke wanted to pair footwork with a new medium and create a video game for footworkers to enjoy. Many people in the footwork community have wanted a video game for years. We’re working with Chicago footworkers to make that dream a reality.

FUNDING

To develop Juke Town, we need the help of philanthropists, angel investors, and other donors. Developing a game requires a team of game developers, web developers, 2D/3D artists, a motion capture system and software, marketing, testing, licenses, and travel, talent, and a work space:

GOALS

Once the game is in a good spot we’d like to host 2 community outreach events a year where youths and adults of all ages can test the game, participate in footwork master classes, eat great food, and win prizes.

The ultimate goal of Juke Town is to give the footwork community a game of their own. By creating Juke Town, we hope to express the footwork culture through a medium that promotes fun and entertainment and gives footworkers a new platform to express and promote their art.
